Higher Education Additional Learning Support (ALS)

Unlike further education the Higher Education
Funding Council (HEFCE) does not fund additional learning support to the College. The emphasis is placed upon the learner to apply for a Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA). Disable Students’ Allowances provide help for students who have to meet extra costs while studying because of their disability. Applications can be made to the Local Authority online at http://www.direct.gov.uk

When a DSA has been granted to the learner, the learner can choose to buy support from the College ALS team or from a private provider support. Help with purchasing support and a list of prices is available from the College ALS Manager.
